Well, I’ve just finished making the chalice pall I talked about last time. After having a little think about it I completed the embroidery, made the teeny weeny altar linen for the back, stitched the whole thing together and then sewed on the lace edging.

Let’s have a look…
Little things… I’m working on a communion, or chalice pall at the moment. Not quite finished but I’ll share the progress.

I am languishing in the land of linens… help!

I’m back! I was sick for a while, not Covid thankfully but something which certainly sapped my energy. On the mend now though and back in my workroom. Yay!
I was chatting with a friend about making a burse. While they were entirely too polite too correct me, they thought I had made a mistake and had meant to say I was making a purse. This got me thinking about the plosive P and droplets and Covid… and I’m sure I read somewhere that in some middle Eastern languages there is actually no P sound so they say Bepsi instead of Pepsi. It’s all very well clearing the proverbial desk when some urgent thing or prompting comes along but you do have to get back to the desk! So after that flurry of embroidery, here is the second set of credence cloths I mentioned (I think!) a while back…

I have been feeling a bit like a production sewing facility behind the scenes here for the last little while. I finished the embroidery on the final chalice veil and then… well time to actually finish them properly, set the corners and sew the backing onto each one. A bit of chore but a necessary part of the job. Now they are all done, pressed and folded into their box and ready to go off on their travels. So let me explain…

The second version in this epic set of veils is in a reddish violet. I selected that shade as being suitable for both Advent and Lent before losing my mind and deciding to go the whole hog!
