Here is the third version of this cross design. Since these are for a set of chalice veils, I have to make at least four. I have a funny feeling I might make more than that…

Red or blue?

Here is that design again on a red, or is it blue?, silk. I like silk dupioni for vestments and hangings etc. because it is quite reasonable priced for silk and it has texture. And there are many, many colours to select from! For the red veil I picked this bright red shot with a dark blue. When you look at it straight on it is a dark red and as the light or the angle of viewing shifts, so does the colour!

Daylight…

I went for the Bayeux stitch again. I’m having a bit of a moment with it, I’ll have to think about that… anyway here is the outline. I took this picture up against the window and at a slight angle, the blue really pops through.

Somewhat later…

Later in the day, under electric light. A whole other thing. And who’s that fellow in the corner?! Yes, a walk ensued…

Yes, it really is the same embroidery! The pictures are not altered or enhanced, just taken under different lighting conditions.
Next up is a gold coloured silk. Whatever colours of thread and stitch shall I use for the embroidery…
Thanks for reading.
